Excessive use of jumper wire leads to repairs that fall far below professional standards. Back in 2012, our team at 725co developed our own repair pads—what many today call repair paper, the thin top layer of the PCB used to restore broken traces. At the time, these pads were nearly impossible to source, so we created our own designs and partnered with specialized factories to manufacture them.
Today, repair paper is easily accessible, giving new technicians an advantage we didn’t have. But even then, we only used jumper wire as a last resort—typically when no pad solution existed for a specific module. And even in those cases, we used it with care and restraint.
The problem now? Jumper wire is being overused—and misused. Many of the wires used in repairs today aren’t even suitable for PCB applications. At 725co, we’ve seen modules come in with completely unnecessary jumper wire work. Some techs assume it’s the only option when traces are broken, but that’s not true. The electronics repair industry offers safe, advanced methods for trace restoration—if you’re willing to learn them.
Here’s a real-world example: the image below shows a poorly done jumper wire repair. It’s excessive, messy, and dangerous. Exposed copper wire, sloppy soldering, and a burned PCB coating—this is exactly what not toÂ
Repairs like these don’t just look unprofessional—they are electrically unstable. They introduce corrosion risks, unstable connections, and long-term damage. Worse, we often end up re-repairing these modules when they fail on site.
Our message is simple:
Avoid rushed, low-cost shortcuts.
Bad jumper wire repairs may seem quick and easy, but they often fail and end up costing more—both in performance and in dollars.

Choose experienced professionals who know how to repair the right way, the first time.
